Myeongsoo Kim is a Korean-born (1980) artist based in New York. Trained in architecture before turning to art, Kim’s work explores emotional and perceptual distances through the lens of cosmic and terrestrial scale. His multi-layered photographic and sculptural assemblages draw on personal and historical memory, measuring the gap between what is visible and what remains a signal — lost, waiting, or never returned. Through framing, gauging, and anchoring, Kim reimagines light as trace and distance as proof of presence.
He holds an MFA from Yale University (2011) and a BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University (2009).
